Marjorie Ferguson - Invitational

This part of the theory shows emphasis on the mouth being shut completely or with a hint of a smile, the models headed being situated to one side or either looking back to the camera, and also there is emphasis on the eyes are where they are looking. The projected moods used here are the curiosity of mystery or mischief, the hint contact potential rather than sexual promise, the cover equivalent of advertising’s soft sell.

This is what is called the Invitational pose. The main feature on this front cover is the model's eyes. By using someone with inviting eyes it makes the reader feel more obliged to purchase the magazine. By having the mouth shut which a small hint of a smile it helps divert the focus  to the models eyes. Having the head either to one side or looking back over the shoulder facing the camera, which you can see in the image above. This pose is used to create an effect which gives off suggestions of mischief and rather than a sexual promise, it is more of a hint towards contact.
